Fujita Group's efforts in the SDGs and the Declaration of Consumer Aspirations

The proud culture of our company
“It is our duty to contribute to society”

As a group company providing safety, reliability, and convenience for everyone, we contribute to society through our long-standing CSR activities, as well as through our energy business such as liquified petroleum gas and petroleum.
Following the adoption of the SDGs at the United Nations Summit in September 2015, our efforts have been more clearly articulated on an international level.
We aim to contribute on achieving the SDGs through our business by providing even greater value to society through more stable and evolved efforts, and continuing to improve our past initiatives.

Installation of ballast water treatment system

SDGs 9
SDGs 4

Because the ports where ships load and unload are often different, aquatic organisms contained in ballast water are transported between countries, causing such problems as disturbance to the global ecosystem.
Ships with a gross tonnage of 400 tons or more engaged in international navigation are required to carry a type-approved ballast water treatment system and possess an International Ballast Water Management Certificate (in Japan, an International Marine Pollution Prevention Certificate issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism).
※ All applicable vessels are required to have the system installed by September 8, 2024.
The "ballast water treatment system" device is designed to biodegrade the stored water in the ballast. And allow the water to be treated without causing changes in the water quality, regardless of where the water is discharged.
From the total of five ships what we own, the foreign-going vessel "BBC Rainbow" installed the system in October 2020, and "Ultra Galaxy" installed the system in February 2023.

SDGs 4
SDGs 10

Support for the Republic of Mali, the 5th poorest country in the world
For over 30 years, "Motherland Academy International" has been sending aid to the Republic of Mali in West Africa, the fifth poorest country in the world. We provide annual supply aid, support afforestation activities, build wells for drinking water, construct educational facilities for children. Little by little but steadiily, we are helping to fight against poverty and to promote equality between countries and people.

Strengthening disaster prevention and setting up disaster prevention bases

SDGs 11
SDGs 12

Annually, we conduct disaster prevention performances and drills to raise awareness. And at our Trendy Wakimachi, Trendy Plaza Kitajima, and Matsushige Oil Terminal, which are certified safety bases, we have equipped facilities that can prioritize refueling of necessary vehicles during a disaster event. In April of this year, the Wakimachi Filling Station became the core filling station, and we are now ready to contribute to the local community in disaster event, not only in personnel but also in terms of physical (equipment) resources as well.

Promoting Diversity Management

SDGs 5
SDGs 8
SDGs 17

The Fujita Group promotes diversity management (management that accepts diverse work styles regardless of nationality, gender, age, etc.). We hire new graduates from universities overseas (Taiwan) and invite talents to work with us.
In addition, with the aim of becoming a company that supports the LGBTQ community, we held study sessions and invited gay couples to participate in panel discussions to deepen understanding. In 2020, we recruited two high school students (from Indonesia and China) to study abroad in Japan through the "Asia Kakehashi Project" to promote cross-religion and cultural exchange. We also continue our "Arigato Boshi (Thank You Star)" project once a month as a way of expressing our gratitude to our colleagues.
Based on the nudge theory, we provide an environment where our employees can spontaneously and sincerely say "Thank you" to each other. In addition, once every three months, we spotlight the employees who have made significant contributions to the company and interview them in a project called "Focus on Fujita Great Employees!”. Seeing the work styles of colleagues and their unexpected side, it helps to invigorate interaction among employees, and by placing the "Fujita Great Employee" logo on business cards and employee ID cards, it creates opportunities of conversation with the customers.
